In this workshop we will create and publish digital stories on issues important to the Protect Our Coral Sea partners. The programme for the workshop is attached at the bottom of this page.
Prior to coming to the workshop can you please undertake the following 5 tasks. This will make the workshop run well.
Task 1
Click on this link to create a PlaceStories member account. Write down your User Name and Password and file it where you can find it later.
Task 2
Once you have an account login to PlaceStories, go to the Calendar in the Main Menu, click on Wednesday17 February and click on Register Me in this workshop (you have to be logged in to register).
Task 3
If you have a good connection download and install the PlaceStories software on your computer. Option 1 New Install is 41 meg - this may take some time depending on your connection. If you don't have a good connection we will install the software on your computer at the workshop.
Task 4
Draft a script you want to record for your story. 2 minute story = 240 words. Focus on one issue/idea you want to tell. Read it aloud to friends/family and edit as required.
Task 5
Collect images that support your story. 2 minute story = 25-40 images. Best image format is jpeg. Also, high-resolution landscape images work best in the PlaceStories storyviewer.
Task 6 (optional, recommended)
In the Help section under the Main Menu there are several online tutorials which quickly take you through the main elements of the PlaceStories software. These features will be the key components of the workshop.
Also, in the Help section there is a PlaceStories User Guide. Please take a look at Section 1.6 on pages 9 & 10 for storytelling tips. I will have hard copies of the User Guide at the workshop.
Any queries prior to the workshop contact Kevin Guy.
