US PlaceStories Projects Get Underway

The Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition and the Center for Rural Strategies have received $10,000 from the Appalachian Community Fund -- Media Justice Fund for a collaborative effort to develop a network of Community Reporters in low-income communities where OVEC organizes in southern West Virginia.



PlaceStories RADF trial moves into Beta Testing

Work on the PlaceStories Regional Arts Development Fund license is moving into the next phase with with over twenty new Queensland Councils coming onboard to help out with the testing and development. The new Beta project will officially start in mid-November as part of the RADF conference in Cairns.



Mater Hospital Project gets the Go-ahead

15th August 2007


The Mater Hospital has contracted Feral Arts to deliver a major new digital storytelling project with its Neonatal Unit. The aim of the project is to develop a new approach to the engagement between the Mater and families that have had a relationship with the Neonatology Unit. Currently parents maintain contact with the Unit through sending images and stories about the progress of the babies often for some years after their birth, particularly if they have spent some time at the Hospital.



Queensland 150th Celebrations go digital

20th February 2007


Queensland is turning 150 in 2009, and the State is getting set to celebrate! As part of the festivities a major state-wide digital storytelling and community history project is being planned. The Premiers Department are contracting Feral Arts to customise a Place Stories system that will enable people from across Queensland to get involved in recording the event in their own communities. Q150 digital will support 150 projects from every corner of the state to explore the Q150 themes of people, places, past and future.



Regional artists get set to tell their stories.

Arts Queensland is set to become one of the first licence holders for the new Place Stories digital story system. The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Licence (currently in development) will provide Queensland's 130 RADF groups with a tailor-made solution enabling successful grantees under the RADF program to create and share stories documenting and promoting their projects. RADF is a partnership between state and local government in which a community committee in each of the local government areas decides how funds available in their area Trial RADF projects with Dalrymple Shire and Charters Towers are set to kick off in July, and the State-wide system is scheduled to go online in January 2008.



Landcare Goes Digital

15th December 2006


Dalrymple groups have been leading the way in testing and development of a new Place Stories system for use in Landcare. The Dalrymple Landcare Committee have been local testing partners for around two years now, working on demonstration projects with a range of versions and prototypes.
